Is the purchase price that you quote fixed?

The purchase price quoted on this web site fluctuates daily with the constantly moving exchange rate. So you may find that the price quoted is slightly different when you eventually order your car. All of the manufacturers prices are as accurate as possible at the time of publication, but as we cover a large number of brands and the prices are changing often any offer that we make is subject to confirmation by the supplying dealership and the manufacturer.

Once my car is ordered can I fix the price and guard against exchange rate movements?

Yes, The Personal Import Company regularly purchases currency on both a forward contract and a spot basis and we will be pleased to fix the price of your car for you.

What happens if there is a price increase from the manufacturer, will I have to pay it?

Most manufacturers operate a price fixing scheme of minimum three months. If there is a price increase due we usually know about it and we will inform you well in advance. If it happens unexpectedly then you will be asked to pay the increase.

How do I pay my deposit and what guarantee do I have of security for my money?

You can pay your deposit in one of several ways.

  • The most common, by personal cheque, bankers draft or building society cheque payable to The Personal Import Company (See who we are)
  • By bank transfer direct to the supplying dealership with a separate cheque payable to The Personal Import Company to cover our service charge
  • In some instances you can pay by credit card directly to the supplying dealership with a separate cheque to The Personal Import Company to cover our service charge.

A credit card provides you with the most security as the card company becomes part of the transaction and in the unlikely event that we may fail to forfill our obligations they will refund you immediately.

The Personal Import Company and most experienced export dealerships do not accept credit card payments for this very reason. It provides you the consumer with 100% protection, but if you cancel we will still have to pay for and take delivery of your car. We do not want to do this for obvious reasons

When we receive payment by cheque your car is ordered the same day, before your cheque has been banked and we provide a confirmation from the supplying dealership that they have received your deposit. If you do not receive this confirmation within 14 days contact our administration team immediately.

Once I have paid my deposit, what happens if I change my mind can I get my money back?

No. Please do not order a car if there is any likelihood that you might change your mind. The dealerships have to take delivery and we have to undertake to pay for all vehicles that are ordered. A right hand drive car on a forecourt in a European country other than Ireland or England is a very difficult thing to sell, so, the dealerships are rigid and will not offer a refund.
